It was back in the year 2000 when I first heard of the Air-Car. At the time, I thought the Air-Car was cutting edge technology, finally a replacement for the antiquated combustion engine had arrived.
A few years later I learned that the original Air-Car was invented back in 1932, but back then, people were told that it couldn’t compete with gas powered vehicles, so it was shelved and never produced.
At the time the competition would have been the big three; Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Chrysler.
The Ford Motor Company was the biggest adversary of both the Electric Car and the Air Car.
Why? Conflict of interest, money, power and a monopoly was at stake, they squashed those that wanted to develop and sell vehicles using alternative energy technology.
To explain in more detail, Henry Ford's "Ford Motor Company" was a subsidiary of John D.Rockefeller's "Standard Oil Company". On top of that! Thomas Edison, who worked for Rockefeller and J.P. Morgan encouraged Henry Ford to build gas powered vehicles. Henry Ford Unmasked at Last!
These powerful, wealthy and extremely influential people Killed the Air Powered Car in the 1930's. If your familiar with Nicola Tesla and his work, it shouldn't surprise you to learn that the very same people, also destroyed Tesla's laboratories, work and sabotaged his career. The Missing Secrets of Nicola Tesla
In 1991! Over 50 years later; Inventor Guy Negre, CEO of MDI started his work to vastly improve this technology to a point where the Air-Car can do more than simply compete. Guy achieved this accomplishment in 1997 and the Air-Car from that point on, had the ability to start the transition to replace the combustion engine.
In that same year, Mr. Negre made a significant step by signing a licensing deal with Tata Motors in India to produce and sell the car for around $10,000 per car. The car to be produced was the Mini-CAT!
In 2007 Popular Mechanics published this article World's First Air-Powered Car: Zero Emissions by Next Summer! The Mini-CAT was on its way to officially hit the streets of India in 2008, and at the time MDI also signed deals to bring this design to 12 more countries, including; Germany, Israel and South Africa.
So what happened?
Since then, numerous attempts were made by MDI and TATA Motors to launch the Air Powered Car in the U.S.A.
Popular Science; Air Powered Car coming to United States between 2009-2010.
I have also written about the Air-Car before, and I attempted to find out from the source regarding if, & when, the Air-Car would be released in Canada & the USA; TATA's Air Car - North American Release Date!?
At this point it looks like Big Oil and the Big Three American Motor companies have again positioned themselves against TATA Motors and MDI to again crush the Air-Car in any part of North America.
Does this mean that the Air-Car will be suppressed again?
Only time will tell...
Only time will tell...
Perhaps their is Hope for the Air-Car to see the light of day, for Toyota and Honda have entered into the fold, to develop their own Air Powered Cars as well.
This is interesting device but can air powered supply energy to electrical part of car?
ReplyDeleteNormal vehicles operate off of a battery and an alternator that recharges the battery and provides power while the engine is running. I would imagine they'd use the same type of setup for an air powered car. So the short answer is yes.
DeleteWhat about the Australian company? They seem to be at a stand still too. I always thought their engine more promising than the MDI car: Engine Air
